The feeling you get from Cloverfield and the handycam format puts it in the top of world-is-going-to-end-as-we-know-it genre.
But to get all the chills you need a larger tv then you can afford and an amplifier that shakes the hole block, then you can watch this movie and get totaly carried away.
Don't try to watch this on some laptop screen, save it for another occasion then.
But do not forget Cloverfield, it's the best domesday movie in a long time.

I really dislike the kind of movie where the creators are trying to add some aura of reality by shooting the entire movie with a handheld consumer camera. As they did with this one... It has some benefits compared to other similar movies:
1) The camera, although shaky, held a high picture quality. Not the noisy kind found in for example Blair Witch.
2) The script was cool, and:
3) I really liked the parts where residues from a previous recording session was seen now and then between takings. Original!

When I first saw the trailer to Cloverfield I wasn´t that excited but decided to see it anyway. Glad I did. Different than other movies since you follow the whole story thru a videocam that one of the characters carries with him all the time. Cloverfield excisting, full of action and a great end! See it!

Blair witch did it first, so it's the best.
Cloverfield didn't realy get the same feeling thru the screen, but it had amazing animations espacially with the statue of liberty.

The cam feeling in Cloverfield was really cool. Didn´t like Blair witch but this was good!
